Our Commitment

to

Protecting

Children,

Youth,

and Vulnerable Adults

The Society of Jesus in Belize is committed to fostering a culture of protection in Belize.

A "culture of protection" denotes an environment in which all persons - especially the most vulnerable among us - are treated as children of God.  This goes beyond the creation of policies aimed at preventing abuse; it refers to a change of mindset, so that all of us can actively work to promote safety and dignity, not only in the Church, but in the wider society.  A culture of protection is a culture of kindness, care, and mutual respect.

This commitment is integral to the very mission of the Society of Jesus.
